Calculation Method

How LotLogic calculates option risk

The calculator first determines the maximum loss you have selected, then compares that limit with the estimated risk and premium required for each lot.

Core formulas
Risk budget = Capital × Risk percentage

Price risk per lot = |Entry − Stop| × Lot size

Adjusted risk per lot = Price risk + Slippage + Charges

Maximum lots by risk = Floor(Risk budget ÷ Adjusted risk per lot)

Final lots = Lower of risk-permitted lots and capital-affordable lots
Worked Example

₹12,000 capital with a ₹500 risk limit

Assume an option entry at ₹20, a stop-loss at ₹13, and a lot size of 65.

  • Stop distance 7 points
  • Price risk per lot 7 × 65 = ₹455
  • Premium required per lot 20 × 65 = ₹1,300
  • Maximum lots permitted by risk 1 lot
  • Risk budget remaining ₹45 before costs
